The Department of Geology and Environmental Geosciences at Bucknell University, Lewisburg, PA, invites applications for an entry-level, visiting assistant professor in geology; Ph.D. or ABD required. The position is for the fall 2019 semester. Qualified applicants for this visiting position will have no more than four years of full-time postdoctoral teaching experience at the time of appointment. We seek applicants with a demonstrated ability to successfully work with a diverse student body. Familiarity with Appalachian geology is desirable.

The visiting professor will teach two physical & environmental geology lecture sections and two accompanying lab sections in fall 2019. This course is taught at the introductory level and serves both majors and non-majors. Each section is capped at 24 students.

Our department offers B.A. and B.S. degrees in geology and environmental geosciences. Bucknell's geology program is field intensive and we expect faculty to make use of local Appalachian field opportunities for labs in the courses.Bucknell's Vision is to provide students with the premier undergraduate experience in American higher education. The Community

Located in central Pennsylvania, Lewisburg features a variety of restaurants, beautiful Victorian homes, the restored art deco Campus Theatre (owned by the University), charming shops and boutiques, and the Barnes and Noble at Bucknell University Bookstore. About 33,000 residents live in the region.

The city of Williamsport is about a 30-minute drive from campus, and Penn State University's main campus is about an hour away, as is Harrisburg, Pennsylvania's state capital. Bucknell is about three hours from New York City, Philadelphia, Baltimore and Washington, D.C.

The cost of living here is low compared to that of major U.S. cities and suburbs.
