Description

 

Arcadis is seeking a self-motivated Geologist to support a variety of
projects/project teams in our Clifton Park, NY office. This is a position
for a dynamic individual looking for career growth in environmental
consulting. The position offers an opportunity to learn about a wide variety
of environmental projects, work with a talented team of professionals

This full-time position is expected to support environmental investigation,
remediation and permitting projects, and will be working alongside and
supporting task managers, technical experts, and project managers on
multiple projects. 

 

Office responsibilities may include the following:  

.        Data management (compilation, manipulation, and evaluation of data)

.        Assisting with writing and preparing technical reports, work plans,
letters, and memoranda

.        Preparing cost estimates and proposals

.        Coordinating work schedules with subcontractors

.        Conducting project related research (historical data, regulations,
etc.)

.        Site characterization, data compilation, evaluation, and QA/QC

.        Generating figure/map/boring logs

.        Utilizing hydraulic-testing software

.        Constructing groundwater flow models

.        Effective coordination and communication with project managers and
other office staff

Field activities may include the following:    

.        Oversight of drilling operations (installing monitoring wells and
logging soil or rock descriptions)

.        Soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, and air sampling in
compliance with State and Federal standards

.        Subcontractor oversight

.        Aquifer hydraulic testing (large-scale pump tests and single-well
tests)

.        Extensive and detailed note taking

.        Maintaining project files and documentation

The candidate will be involved in interpreting and evaluating field and
analytical data in order to prepare site characterization reports, remedial
investigation reports, engineering designs, permit applications, and
construction-related documents. This position does require travel and field
work. Field work is expected to range from approximately 50-75% of the
candidate's time with some travel requiring hotel stays.

 

Candidates must have a good driving record, be willing to work outside in
all weather conditions and for extended periods. Field work may be performed
at project sites with environmental media (e.g., soil, sediment,
groundwater, surface water, etc.) that has been impacted with hazardous
substances and/or hazardous wastes. Candidates must also be able to meet the
physical demands associated with performing field work, including lifting
heavy equipment, working in a standing position for extended periods of
time, etc. Candidates must be proficient with MS Word and MS Excel. The
ideal candidate will have excellent written and strong interpersonal
communication skills, multi-tasking skills, and efficient time management.

 

This position requires a current valid driver's license and clean driving
record.

.        BS in Geology or Geosciences

.        0 years of related work experience

 

Preferred Qualifications

.        OSHA 40-hour Health & Safety Training

.        Prior field work experience in either an internship, field camp, or
on the job

.        Prior related internship or research experience
