Scientific Aviation is a Boulder-based atmospheric research company that
operates world-wide using high performance Mooney airplanes and unmanned
drones. We are based primarily out of Boulder, Colorado and currently have
aircraft in California, Colorado, Texas and Scotland. *Our projects are
RARELY at home, meaning we travel a lot!* During the last 12 months, we
have completed projects in Norway, Romania, Ukraine, Australia, Canada,
Mexico and the US - if you don't like traveling, this isn't your job!
We are looking for a flight scientist with an interest in flying right-seat
on scientific missions in our small Mooney aircraft. Bachelor's degree in
Math, Physics, Engineering or Chemistry required. You will need to be
computer savvy, good at troubleshooting (you will be tested), easy to get
along with and interested in working in a challenging environment.
Programming experience is a plus!
What we do is high profile and must be done right. Clients include the
United Nations, US Government, Canadian Government and a host of
universities and energy producers. The flights will challenge your skills,
the locations we measure will take you off-shore, up north into the arctic,
across the ocean to Europe and everywhere in between. Projects vary from
one day to 4 weeks - so travel is a must.
We have great benefits including health insurance, retirement, transit
pass, and most important of all, *SKI pass*!
This is a full-time position with an anticipated salary of $45,000 to
$50,000/year. Applicants must be authorized to work in the United States.
The successful applicant must be comfortable in small planes, based in
Boulder, CO and frequent travel is to be expected (approx. 50% or more).
Flexibility is also required - our schedule is extremely variable and
project-dependent, with weekends and holidays often required.
If this sounds like a good fit for you, send in your resume - and most
important - *a cover letter explaining why you would be a good fit for this*.
We are primarily interested in local applicants but will consider anyone,
provided you are able to come to Boulder (at your expense) for the
interview.
We are currently accepting applications on a rolling basis. Send all
application materials, including resume and cover letter, to
julianna at scientificaviation.com with subject line "Flight Scientist
Application: [name]."
