The School of Earth & Environment at Rowan University is seeking an Assistant Professor in the Department of Geology starting September 1st 2020. We seek outstanding candidates who hold (by Sept 1, 2019) a Ph.D. in Geology/Geoscience, or a closely related discipline. The successful candidate will have demonstrated early success at research and publication. Postdoctoral experience is a plus. We seek candidates who have a global focus -- established international collaborations are a plus. The areas of expertise are open, however, preference will be given to applicants engaged in classic and emerging approaches to understanding modern and ancient climate change including, but not limited to, cryosphere evolution, geomorphology, glaciology, geodynamics , geophysics, and climate and ocean modeling. Scholars hired in the School of Earth & Environment will have superior communication skills and will have demonstrated a deep commitment to sharing their science with the public.
Rowan University is a Carnegie-classified Doctoral University (R2) with approximately 19,000 students. Its main campus is located in Glassboro, N.J., 20-miles southeast of Philadelphia. Philadelphia International Airport is 30 minutes away, and New York and Washington, DC are easily accessible by train from 30thStreet Station. The Jean & Ric Edelman Fossil Park(www.rowan.edu/fossils<http://www.rowan.edu/fossils>), located only 4 miles from campus, is closely associated with the School of Earth & Environment and provides unique research opportunities and teaching resources to faculty members and students. Rowan's main campus is located on the Atlantic Coastal Plain, which exposes Holocene through Cretaceous outcrops, including a K/Pg section at the quarry. The Piedmont and Appalachian provinces are 20 minutes and 1 hour away, respectively. The Atlantic coast and the Delaware Bay estuary are within an hour's drive.
