The Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences (CIRES) at the University of Colorado Boulder, and the NOAA Earth System Research Laboratory (ESRL) Chemical Sciences Division (CSD), are seeking a Research Scientist to investigate aerosol-cloud interactions using state-of-the-art remote sensing capabilities and models. CSD is a world-class leader in atmospheric aerosol and cloud research using in-situ air craft measurements and high resolution modeling. The ideal candidate will work closely with NOAA and CIRES scientists on addressing unresolved questions related to quantification of aerosol-cloud interactions and their radiative impacts, in support of NOAA and CIRES climate goals. A PhD in Atmospheric Sciences is required. The ideal candidate should have thorough knowledge of cloud remote sensing and climate models. Experience with in-situ cloud microphysical measurements is a plus.
At CIRES, the Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences, more than 800 environmental scientists work to understand the dynamic Earth system, including people's relationship with the planet. CIRES is a partnership of NOAA and the University of Colorado Boulder, and our areas of expertise include weather and climate, changes at the Earth's poles, air quality and atmospheric chemistry, water resources, and solid Earth sciences. Our vision is to be instrumental in ensuring a sustainable future environment by advancing scientific and societal understanding of the Earth system.
