Assistant Professor in Climate Science/Physical Geography

The Department of Geography and Environmental Sciences (GES) at the University of Colorado Denver invites applications for a tenure-track appointment at the Assistant Professor level in Climate Science/Physical Geography to begin August 2019.

The department is seeking a computational and/or field scientist proficient in one or more subfields of physical geography. The successful candidate will complement and expand upon existing department strengths focusing on human-environmental interactions and geographic information science and technology. We are especially interested in a scholar working at the intersection of climate and other Earth-environmental or human systems. The candidate will be dynamic, innovative, and excellent in research and teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Responsibilities for the position include teaching two courses per semester during the 9-month academic year. Teaching responsibilities will include introductory undergraduate core science courses, as well as advanced undergraduate and graduate courses in the candidate's area of specialization. The candidate will need to demonstrate and value high quality teaching and maintain an active research program that yields publications and external grant submissions. Candidates must have a PhD in geography or a related discipline at the time of appointment.

The GES Department at CU Denver offers a BA in Geography, with approximately 160 majors, and an MA in Applied Geography and Geospatial Science and MS in Environmental Science with approximately 70 graduate students in the two programs. GES faculty also participate in graduate programs (including PhD) in other departments across campus (Department of Integrative Biology, Department of Civil Engineering, College of Architecture and Planning). Minimum Qualifications:

  *   Ph.D. in Geography or related field
