The CRC Sacramento Basin Team is seeking to fill a Geoscience Specialist position to support our Sacramento assets. Position is located in Bakersfield, CA.
Responsibilities
* Generate maps of geologic and engineering data and interpretation for presentation and collaboration purposes
* Research internal and external sources for well data, production data, completion information, and interpretation
* Load data as it is acquired from new/existing wells
* Work with team to transfer data between Openworks database(s) and Landmark geologic software
* Provide support and documentation for technical studies
* Work with petrophysicists and geologists to support core analysis studies
* Generate regulatory compliant displays for permit applications (drilling, UIC, SB4, aquifer exemption, etc.)
* Assist with final project review and documentation preparation
* Manage OpenWorks database cleanup initiatives
* Assist geologists, petrophysicists and reservoir engineers through database management
* Compile, QC, organize, and analyze well and spatial data, including digitization of historic data
Qualifications
Required qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in science (Geology, Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Chemistry, Physics, etc) with at least ten years relevant experience or a high school diploma/GED with at least twelve years of relevant experience
* Demonstrated strength in PC and workstation-based applications, data management, geological, and engineering, i.e. LINUX, Access, Office, ArcGIS Suite, Openworks, DecisionSpace, and Petrel
* Data Base management expertise and proficiency with database applications across PC and Linux/Unix based platforms
* Understand, manipulate (in both electronic and hardcopy formats), audit, and maintain a variety of common geologic, geophysical, and cartographic data, including well log data, raster logs, scout ticket information, geological field data, navigation/survey data, land data, geo-referenced map data, and core data
* Able to prepare a wide variety of technical displays (geologic & geophysical maps, cross-sections, montages, charts, tables, etc.) in hardcopy and electronic formats
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
* Ability to successfully lead and coordinate projects
* Excellent oral and written communication skills
* Excellent time management skills, with demonstrated ability to accurately meet short deadlines
Preferred qualifications:
* Familiarity with field operations and workovers
* Knowledgeable of reservoir and production engineering, geology, and land terminology
* Familiarity with LMKR GeoGraphix geological software platform
* Experience with reservoir characterization, resource assessment and development planning
* Experience with reviewing geological prognoses
* Experience supporting technical team during well surveillance reviews
* Experience with monitoring the drilling and logging of new wells
