The School of the Earth, Ocean, and Environment invites applications for a
tenure-track, assistant professor position in the area of geochronology to
begin August 16, 2019. We seek an individual with outstanding research and
teaching abilities and broad interests related to geochronology,
petrochronology or thermochronology. The successful candidate will
complement, strengthen and diversify the School’s research program in solid
earth geoscience and take advantage of state-of-the art facilities in the
Center for Elemental Mass Spectrometry (CEMS - http://www.cems-sc.org/).
The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses and
direct an active, externally funded research program. Teaching
responsibilities will include an undergraduate core course in the areas of
mineralogy-petrology or structural geology - tectonics, as well as
upper-level undergraduate and graduate-level courses related to the
candidate’s specialty.
A Ph.D. is required at the time of appointment, and post-doctoral
