POSTDOCTORAL SCHOLAR – STREAM HYDRO-ECOLOGY
Department of Environmental, Science & Policy Management
We are inviting applications for a postdoctoral scholar to investigate
environmental controls on the abundance and survival of endangered coho
salmon in the Russian River basin, California, USA. The candidate will
be responsible for modeling hydro-ecological dynamics in intermittent
stream systems. A primary goal will be to quantify limiting factors to
fish habitat and over-summer survival and writing papers. There will be
opportunities for independent lines of inquiry involving field work or
retrospective data analysis. The successful candidate will work with a
team of researchers, including UC faculty as well as management and
conservation partners.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS (by time of application)
Candidates must have completed all degree requirements except the
dissertation or be enrolled in an accredited PhD or equivalent degree
program in Freshwater Ecology, Environmental Science, Hydrology or
related field.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS (by start date)
Candidates must have a PhD or equivalent degree in Freshwater Ecology,
Environmental Science, Hydrology or related field.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (by start date)
• Demonstrated expertise in quantitative skills – proven experience with
ecological data analysis, statistical models, and computer programming
(e.g., R, Python, MatLab);
• Experience working with geospatial data and geographic information
systems a plus;
• Expertise in data management skills;
• Strong publication record.
APPOINTMENT
The targeted start date for this position is August 1, 2017. The initial
appointment is for one-year, with renewal based on performance for up to
three years. This is a full-time appointment in the Department of
Environmental Science, Policy, and Management, and will be jointly
supervised by Drs. Carlson and Grantham.
SALARY AND BENEFITS
Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and based
on UC Berkeley salary scales. The annual salary range for this position
is $48,216 to $56,400. Generous benefits are
