Opportunity for a M.S. student on arid region tropical cyclone-derived alluvial fan sedimentology and geochronology, Indiana Geological and Water Survey and Department of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences at Indiana University

An M.S. RA opportunity is available to work under the direction of Dr. José L. Antinao, at the Indiana Geological and Water Survey (IGWS) and the Dept. of Earth and Atmospheric Sciences (DEAS), Indiana University. The student project is part of a larger research project (pending final approval of funding) on alluvial fan sedimentology, geomorphology and geochronology in locations in the Vizcaino desert (Baja California, Mexico), and the Arizona Sonoran Desert.  The student will take advantage of the recently established luminescence laboratory at the IGWS and of a broad range of facilities at the IGWS and DEAS, as well as an ongoing collaboration with Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory for cosmogenic exposure dating. International fieldwork is an integral part of the project. The project involves field and lab work along with undergraduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and co-PIs from collaborative institutes, and therefore it is expected that the candidate for this position should work well in teams.

The position is available to start during 2018. The assistantship will include full tuition and a salary of $22,000 per year for two years.
