We are seeking qualified undergraduate or graduate students to 
participate in a research project in Honduras. Successful applicants 
will have the opportunity to apply relevant engineering and 
environmental health skills to solving real-world problems. Travel, 
lodging, and per diem will be provided.

The research project is examining exposures and health effects of indoor 
biomass cookstoves in farming villages throughout Yamaranguila and 
Intibucá in the southwestern region of Honduras, near the town of La 
Esperanza. The current project is a longitudinal study, which started in 
August 2015 and is expected to last 3 years. Approximately 250 women 
with traditional stoves have been enrolled to explore their health and 
indoor air pollution over time, comparing measures before and after an 
improved stove intervention. We are working closely with community 
leaders to ensure a community-engaged approach. This research is looking 
for interested students to assist with data collection and management 
for the field session in Honduras, with the possibility to continue 
working on the project in the future. For more information, please see:
