IIASA was established in 1972 as an independent international research
organisation based in Austria. IIASA's interdisciplinary research
focuses on finding solutions to the complex, interconnected global
problems confronting humanity ranging from achieving global food
security to transitioning to sustainable energy systems. The UK joined
IIASA in June 2015

IIASA is current offering the following employment opportunity:
_Application Developer, Ecosystems Services and Management (ESM) Program_
The Earth Observation Systems (EOS) Research Group within IIASA’s
Ecosystems Services and Management (ESM) Program has built and deployed
tools and platforms to use citizen science, crowdsourcing and expert
knowledge in order to improve in-situ data and the overall information
base of land cover and land use globally via product integration and
geospatial approaches and is now looking to recruit an Application
Developer.
The successful candidate must have good verbal and written English
communication skills, with a full understanding and interest in Web and
desktop design and development. An extended understanding of object
oriented programming such as C# or JAVA and PHP5+ with a focus in
geospatial applications is essential, as well as experience in
PostgreSQL/PostGIS, GDAL/OGR and advanced GIS skills. Good knowledge of
HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript, and experience working with multiple MVC
frameworks and designed/consumed APIs are also required.
The Application Developer will work closely with other developers and
scientists, and must have a positive and professional work ethic. A
degree in Computer Science, Engineering, GIS or similar, or five plus
years of experience developing applications is required.
