[ES_JOBS_NET] Research Scientist Position: Physical Oceanographic Modeller in British Columbia, Canada

The Institute of Ocean Sciences (Sidney, BC, Canada) is looking to hire at least one permanent research scientist (any level, from recent graduate to the equivalent of a full professor) in the area of physical oceanographic modelling. The applications are due Nov 20, 2015.

 

The Ocean Sciences Division of Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Pacific Region requires coastal ocean modellers in two areas. The first is high resolution modelling of coastal regions with complex coastlines and topographies for applications to aquaculture, marine safety and the transport of planktonic organisms. The second is shelf-scale modelling with an emphasis on the development and application of data assimilation for annual state estimates, and for operational forecasting. The asset qualifications will be used to distinguish between the two positions. It is anticipated that one position will be staffed immediately, and the second at a later date from the pool of qualified applicants.
