Essential Job Duties
Photochemical experiments, enzyme experiments; absorbance and
fluorescence spectroscopy; stable carbon isotope analyses of dissolved
and particulate organic matter; modeling fluorescence data withPARAFAC;
coordinating ship time and field experiments
Collect field samples shipboard; process samples in the lab; coordinate
and execute photochemical and enzyme experiments, stable carbon isotope
measurements of particulate and dissolved organic carbon; process and
model fluorescence data withPARAFAC; manuscript preparation
Position is 2 years with possible 1-2 years renewal based on continued
availability of funding and satisfactory performance
Other Work/Responsibilities
Minimum Experience/Education
Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate (e.g., M.D., D.V.M., Sc.D.) in appropriate
field awarded no more than five (5) years from initial date of
postdoctoral appointment.
Departmental Required Skills
PhD in Oceanography, Marine Science, Aquatic Chemistry, Marine Organic
Geochemistry, or similar field obtained within the last 3 years and
expertise in the absorption and fluorescence spectroscopy,
photochemistry, and/or stable isotope chemistry, with a focus on organic
matter.
Operation and maintenance of spectrophotometer, spectrofluorometer,
isotope ratio mass spectrometer, organic carbon analyzer. Programming in
Matlab computing environment; Excellent verbal and written communication
skills.
