The Departments of Meteorology and the School of Agriculture, Policy and 
Development at the University of Reading (UoR) invite applications for 
an interdisciplinary researcher with a background in meteorology, and an 
ability to communicate climate information with a range of stakeholders.

The post is part of the BRAVE research consortium, ‘Building 
understanding of climate variability into planning of groundwater 
supplies from low storage aquifers in Africa – Second Phase’, funded 
under the NERC/DFID/ESRC programme, Unlocking the Potential for 
Groundwater for the Poor (UPGro)

locational focus of the BRAVE project is Burkina Faso and Northern Ghana.

The project is led by Dr Rosalind Cornforth in the Department of 
Meteorology (UoR), with co-investigators from the UoR and the British 
Geological Survey (BGS), as well as partners from a large number of 
water resources research, governance, and (international) aid agency 
organisations in Ghana and Burkina Faso.

You will have:

-Background in Meteorology with good programming and analytical skills

-Background in Social Science and participatory methods

-Ability to communicate climate information with a wide range of 
stakeholders

-Fluency in French and English

-Be able to travel to West Africa regularly
