Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be responsible for the development of undergraduate courses in crop production and for instruction of introductory courses, including laboratories, in soil science, soil conservation, and environmental management. Additional responsibilities include advising student groups and recruitment of undergraduates in agronomic and related disciplines.
Job Responsibilities
Advising student groups and recruitment of undergraduates in agronomic and related disciplines. It is anticipated that 75% of the time will be dedicated to instruction and the remainder to recruitment and student advisement. It is expected that the instructor will be part of the College of Agriculture recruitment team and establish connections with consultants, agents, high schools, 4H, and FFA to attract students to soil science, agronomy, horticulture, urban entomology, plant pathology, and College wide academic programs.
The instructor will take leadership in developing the sustainable production curriculum in an interdepartmental program and compile a yearly assessment document for the department for the Plant and Soil Systems curriculum.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the development and instruction of undergraduate courses in crop production and for instruction of introductory courses, including laboratories, in soil science, soil conservation, and environmental management.
Required Qualifications: Master's degree with B.S. degree in Agronomy, Environmental Management Systems, Horticulture, or related area.
Additional Qualifications Desired: Experience giving presentations or lectures in undergraduate classes.
Special Requirements: Willingness to travel throughout the state and region to participate in recruitment events and meet with students. Work as a part of the College of Agriculture recruitment team in a coordinated effort to attract students to the College in all disciplines. Willingness to conduct coursework at off-campus facilities over an extended period of up to two weeks. Overnight stays are likely.
