This position serves as a Geodesist, involved in observing, reducing,
adjusting, and analyzing geodetic survey data to produce latitudes and
longitudes; and orthometric, geoidal and ellipsoidal heights. The duties
include but are not limited to the following:
·Conducts research and development of techniques, products, and services
that support and improve defining, maintaining, and accessing the
National Spatial Reference System.
·Develop physical models that accurately describe the orbital mechanics
of Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS), the propagation of their
radio signals, and the dynamics of the national and international
tracking networks to improve GNSS data processing software.
·Maintain and improve the International Terrestrial Reference Frame
(ITRF) as the fundamental basis for the National Spatial Reference
System (NSRS).
·Use engineering and scientific programming to develop, test, maintain,
and refine GNSS software in order to improve station positioning, GNSS
orbit estimation and reference frame maintenance.

*_Basic Requirements:_*
A. Degree: geodesy; or 30 semester hours in any combination of geodesy,
mathematics,
physics, astronomy, engineering science, surveying, geodetic surveying,
photogrammetry, or geophysics. The course work must have included
differential and integral calculus. (Must submit copies of Transcripts)
for eligibility.
B. Combination of education and experience -- course work as shown in A
above, plus
appropriate experience or additional education.
*_In addition to meeting the BASIC REQUIREMENT_**, applicants must meet
the SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE by one of the following:*
A. Possess one year experience equivalent to at least the ZP-1372-02
level or a GS-09 level in the federal government inproviding
technical advice to internal and external stakeholders on; Global
Navigation 'Satellite Systems (GNSS) orbital analysis, reference frame
definition, and analysis of international GNSS Service (IGS) and
Continuously Operating Reference Station (CORS) Networks sites;
experiential knowledge of least squares adjustment, orbital mechanics,
and linear algebra; and communicating complex issues pertaining to the
science of geodesy to a broad range of stakeholders.
OR
B Possess a PhD or equivalent degree in in geodesy, engineering,
physics, mathematics or a closely related field that provided the
knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to successfully complete the
work of the position. (Must submit copies of Transcripts for eligibility.)
OR
C. Possess a combination of specialized experience as described in A and
graduate level education as described in B that, when combined, equal
100% of the total requirement. (Please note that only graduate education
in excess of the first 36 semester hours may be used in this calculation.)

work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps,
AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic;
religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps

employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience,
including volunteer experience.
