    *Job Summary*

    A student internship is available in the National Renewable Energy
    Laboratory's (NREL) Strategic Energy Analysis Center in Golden,
    Colorado. NREL is the nation's primary laboratory for research,
    development and deployment of renewable energy and energy efficiency
    technologies.

    We have an immediate opening for a one year, part-time student
    internship in our Golden, Colorado office. The position would be
    part-time (20 - 30 hours per week) during the school year and/or
    full time during the summer.

    The intern will join a team of researchers who perform environmental
    sustainability assessments of energy technologies. The specific
    project involves spatially and temporally disaggregating air
    pollutant emissions from NREL’s life cycle assessment model. The
    core skills required are familiarity with Python and/or
    PostgreSQL/SQL, ability to review literature to fill gaps in our
    model (e.g., air pollutant emissions factors related to various
    industrial, agricultural and transportation-related processes),
    organize data into inputs to various models according to
    specification and assist with manuscript/report preparation. The
    intern will also run EPA’s NONROAD model to generate emissions for
    specific activities

    *Required Education, Experience, and Skills*

    Must be enrolled as a full-time student in a degree granting
    program, or graduated in the past 12 months from an accredited
    institution.

    Internship period cannot exceed 12 months past graduation.

    Minimum of a 3.0 cumulative grade point average.

    *Preferred Qualifications*

    Working knowledge of Word, Excel, and Power Point (or equivalent)
    software.

    Knowledge of first-level undergraduate or graduate environmental
    engineering, mechanical engineering, atmospheric science classes.

    Programming experience in Python and or other object-oriented
    programming languages.

    Experience writing journal articles or other technical reports.

    Coursework or research focus on air quality engineering. Knowledge
    of spatial analysis or geographic information systems.

    In depth research experience with a supporting reference.
