A postdoctoral fellow position is available at the University of
Michigan in the research group of Prof. Kerri Pratt in the Department of
Chemistry. The research will focus on one-dimensional modeling of Arctic
atmospheric chemistry, with emphasis on halogen chemistry and snowpack
photochemistry. Model results will be compared to field data from
chemical ionization mass spectrometry measurements. This position is
part of a National Science Foundation grant to improve our understanding
of near-surface halogen chemistry under changing snow and sea ice
conditions. The one-dimensional model MISTRA will be utilized in
collaboration with Prof. Roland von Glasow at the University of East
Anglia. The position will also include assisting in the development of a
general chemistry laboratory course focused on snow chemistry research,
as part of an educational grant funded by the Howard Hughes Medical
Institute.

A PhD in atmospheric science, chemistry, or a related area is required,
as well as strong written and oral communication skills. Prior
experience with one-dimensional or chemical transport modeling is
desired. An interest in teaching is desired for participation in course
development. The postdoctoral position is expected to be for two years;
initial appointment will be for one year, with likely renewal, pending
demonstrated progress. Preferred start date is August or early September
2015.

To apply, please send a cover letter (describing your research
experience and interests, as well as anticipated date of availability),
CV, and names/contact information for 3 references to Prof. Kerri Pratt,
email: prattka at umich.edu.
