The Department of Marine Sciences at the University of South Alabama (USA=
) is seeking applicants for=20
a PhD fellowship to start in fall 2015. Three additional fellowships are=
available to USA students=20
through the Dauphin Island Sea Lab (www.disl.org). All Ph.D. fellowships=
include a full tuition waiver=20
and stipend support of $20,000. Faculty research interests include all a=
spects of biological, chemical,=20
physical, and fisheries oceanography. Research programs in marine fisher=
ies, restoration,=20
conservation and global change science include a strong component of mari=
ne and coastal resource=20
management. The graduate program is administered through the Department =
of Marine Sciences on=20
USA=92s main campus in Mobile, but most students and faculty are in resid=
ence at the Dauphin Island=20
Sea Lab, located approximately 35 miles south of Mobile. Applications for=
fall admission and=20
fellowship support are due by February 1. Enrollment normally begins in =
the fall semester; however,=20
spring admission will also be considered. The admissions committee makes =
initial recommendations=20
by March 15 for fall semester enrollment.

Applicants applying for a Ph.D. fellowship also must apply for admission =
to USA Marine Science=92s=20
doctoral program. Minimum requirements for admission are a baccalaureate =
degree in a discipline=20
related to marine sciences (e.g. biology, chemistry, geology, physics), a=
GPA of 3.0 (4.0 point system),=20
and a GRE General Test score of 300. To apply see=20
