Researcher in Agriculture-Environment Interactions at Stockholm University
Baltic Sea Centre. Reference number SU FV-0717-14. Deadline for
applications: May 10, 2014.

Stockholm University Baltic Sea
Centre<http://www.su.se/ostersjocentrum/english/>announces a
researcher position in agriculture-environment interactions
with focus on agricultural policy, crop and animal production systems,
nutrient management measures and its effects on the Baltic Sea.

The position is part of a scientific segment in a team together with
communicators, which will provide scientific knowledge to decision makers.

*About Baltic Sea Centre and the Baltic Eye*
The mission of Stockholm University Baltic Sea Centre is to:

   - carry out vital research and environmental analysis to support
   management,
   - collect useful knowledge and communicate it to the right place in
   society and
   - provide attractive infrastructure for marine research and education.

Stockholm University Baltic Sea Centre is currently building up "Baltic
Eye<http://www.su.se/ostersjocentrum/english/analysis/international/baltic-eye/baltic-eye-puts-the-baltic-sea-on-the-agenda-1.152120>"
- a unique combination of science and communication. Seven researchers will
constitute the core scientific staff of this new initiative. Together with
three dedicated communication experts and a wide network of scientists the
Baltic Eye team will improve the knowledge about the Baltic Sea and
describe measures that will help society tackle its marine environmental
problems.

In February 2013, the Baltic Sea Centre formed a strategic partnership with
the BalticSea2020 foundation to form Baltic Eye for action oriented
analysis, synthesis and communication. Stockholm University performs
comprehensive and powerful Baltic Sea research, however, resources for
synthesis and communication are yet not on par with basic research.
Therefore, the foundation allocated 20 million SEK per year for Baltic Eye
over a five-year period. Ample funding is also set aside for top-notch
international workshops, communication events and outreach products to
address important issues that can help to find the best solutions for a
better environmental state of the Baltic Sea.

*Qualifications*
Specific qualifications required to be considered as a candidate for
employment include at least a PhD within the subject area of the position.
We seek a person with a strong interest and ambition for communication and
outreach, that in close collaboration with others in our research and
communication team can:

   - strongly communicate research results that have the potential to
influence or form policy decisions for an improved Baltic Sea environment.
   - develop pro-active communication and policy options for societal
choices and communicate Baltic Sea environmental action challenges and
   solutions.
   - lead scientific thematic syntheses including assessments on measures
and solutions and international workshops on environmental Baltic Sea
issues, as well as write scientific publications on these subjects.
   - develop integrated approaches for environmental management and
measures within the Baltic Sea and its catchment.
   - assess the implications of the EU Common Agricultural Policy, and
other related directives on environmental management within the Baltic Sea
   and its catchment.

*Terms of employment*
The employment is full-time and permanent with a six-month probationary
period. Start date as soon as possible and as agreed.
