Aclima is an early-stage company based in San Francisco that designs and
deploys distributed, large- scale sensor networks to empower people with
actionable environmental quality data. Our end-to-end solutions collect,
process and analyze real-time streaming data from thousands of sensors,
enabling a level of environmental awareness that has never been possible
before. We believe our technologies can redefine the way we imagine and
manage our buildings, communities, and cities, helping us improve our
collective well-being.
To accomplish this mission, our Analytics team actively focuses on the
systematic exploration and analysis of a large dataset that grows by
millions of points every day. The team's goals include sensor
characterization, development of methodologies and tools to help users make
better decisions and contributions to environmental science. To do so, our
Analytics team is looking for a Data Scientist animated by our passion for
the environment and for data.
*Job Description:*
As a Data Scientist, you will use machine learning techniques to
characterize sensor performance, classify event types, detect anomalies and
engage in network analysis among others. You will also work with other
members of the Analytics team on ad-hoc studies. You will present your
results and insights both internally and externally.
You will also collaborate with other Aclima teams to provide feedback on
data collection and management methodologies, and on product development.
As a member of the Analytics team, you will additionally participate in the
development of white papers, in the management of new knowledge and
interact with clients/partners.
*Your Description:*
We want to hear from you if you can demonstrate your experience in:
- Extracting and analyzing data from multiple sources (e.g. usage of
APIs, web scraping) Identifying data issues, investigating and finding
problem sources
- Using signal processing techniques and advanced statistical methods
- Using your understanding of instrumental design to properly interpret
detected anomalies Implementing at least 2 of the following machine
learning techniques: classification algorithms, predictive analytics,
pattern recognition
- Developing data visualizations
- Presenting complex concepts in an understandable way to a business
oriented/less technical audience
- A minimum of a Masters degree in atmospheric science, physics,
mathematics, statistics or in a related scientific/analytical field
Pluses:
- Previous work in a scientific domain involving analysis of data
obtained from physical instrumentation
- Experience in anomaly detection, knowledge of built environment,
sensor performance modeling Experience working on distributed computing
systems
- We also expect you to:
- Be a critical thinker and a problem solver
- Have excellent written and oral communication skills Be autonomous and
able to work with other teams
- Take initiative
