The Department of Geography at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville
invites applications for a tenure track position at the *Assistant Professor
* level beginning in August of 2014. PhD at time of appointment is
required. ABD candidates close to completion may be considered.

Southern Illinois University Edwardsville is seeking applications for a
Geographer specializing in  *Biogeography*. Candidates should be able to
teach and advise in one or more of the following areas: Conservation and
Sustainability, Climatology, or Resource Use and Management. Preference
will be given to candidates with working knowledge of Geographic
Information Systems. The successful candidate will be expected to teach
undergraduate and graduate courses in the Geography Department. The
Department supports the development of innovative courses in the
candidate’s area of expertise. Faculty at SIUE have extensive opportunities
to develop their teaching and research agendas. Excellence in teaching is
expected, as is a record of scholarly productivity which may involve both
undergraduate and graduate students.

SIUE is a nationally recognized university located in the St. Louis
metropolitan area. The Geography Department consists of eleven faculty and
eight staff members. The Department has more than 100 undergraduate majors
and 30 Master’s students. Areas of specialization include biogeography,
climatology, cultural geography, hydrology, urban studies, GIS and remote
sensing. The Laboratory of Applied Spatial Analysis and the Office of the
Mines are closely associated with the Department and offer collaborative
research opportunities. Candidates are encouraged to visit the Department
