Dear colleagues,

I am pleased to announce that Dr. Shikha Raizada has joined the Division of Atmospheric and Geospace Sciences in NSF as a Program Director in Aeronomy via the Rotator Program<https://new.nsf.gov/careers/rotator-programs> as an IPA <https://new.nsf.gov/careers/rotator-programs/intergovernmental-personnel-act-ipa-assignments> from her home institution University of Central Florida (UCF).

Dr. Raizada earned her Ph.D. in Planetary Atmospheres and Aeronomy from Gujarat University in India.  After a stint in the Physical Research Laboratory in India where her research was focused on low latitudes ionospheric irregularities, she pursued a postdoc at the Arecibo Observatory (AO). During her subsequent Humboldt Fellowship at the Institute for Atmospheric Physics in Kühlungsborn, Germany, she studied the effects of ice particles in the polar mesospheric clouds on the potassium layer. Dr. Raizada returned to AO as a Senior Scientist in 2006 where she has been utilizing simultaneous incoherent scatter radar (ISR) and lidar observations to gain insight into ionosphere-atmosphere interactions. Dr. Raizada also helped organize the ISR Summer School, an effort that provides hands-on learning experiences of ISR concepts and related science.
