Please note that there is a special session at the Fall AGU: SA023 - Twenty Years of Space-Based Observations of the Ionosphere-Thermosphere-Mesosphere System and a View to the Future
This is an all virtual session.

This session will highlight scientific progress throughout the ongoing golden age of discovery for the past two decades of space-based observations of the Earth’s Ionosphere-Thermosphere-Mesosphere (ITM) System. Multiple satellite missions have flown over the past twenty years and many of these are still operational and some are about to enter their third decade of science operations. One of the main discoveries of the past two decades is that the ITM is truly a coupled system, i.e., strongly coupled to the atmosphere below and to the space environment above. The session welcomes contributions that spotlight the key discoveries in ITM system science since the year 2000. In addition, special emphasis will be placed on looking ahead to the next 20 years through invited talks by a diverse group of young, emerging scientists who are expected to lead this discipline into the future.
