Dear CEDAR community,
We call your attention to the "Meteors, Collisional EMPs and Other Highly-Transient Space Plasma Events” session (see summary below) at the 2nd URSI Atlantic Radio Science Conference (URSI AT-RASC) to be held on Gran Canaria 28 May - 1 June 2018. Paper submission and registration are now open with a January 10, 2018 deadline for paper submission. AT-RASC hosts both a Young Scientist Program (with limited travel awards available) and a Student Paper Competition. Full details can be found at http://www.atrasc.com/homepage.php <http://www.atrasc.com/homepage.php>
Meteors, Collisional EMPs and Other Highly-Transient Space Plasma Events
Conveners: Asta Pellinen-Wannberg, John Mathews and Margaret Campbell-Brown
In this session we welcome papers on general studies regarding meteors, dust and their dynamics in the Solar System with an emphasis on the implications regarding the radio science and plasma physics processes involved. Interesting topics include (micro)meteoroid processes such as sputtering, fragmentation and ablation in the upper atmosphere and how they can bias the estimates of the total meteoroid mass flux into Earth. Also studies on how the processes can be observed in radio emissions, through radar signatures, and through comparisons with optical signatures that are important for improved mass flux estimates and enhanced understanding of the underlying processes. Additionally, papers on related highly-transient impact phenomena including meteoroid impact EMP generation on satellite, lunar, and planetary surfaces are welcome.
Feel free to contact us for further information and with best regards for the holidays,
Asta, Margaret, & John
