Dear Colleagues,
Please consider submitting an abstract to our session on "Chemical
transport processes near the mesopause: towards reconciling models with
observations" at the 2016 AGU Fall Meeting, 12-16 December 2016.
The deadline for all submissions is Wednesday, 3 August 23:59 EDT.
SA007. Chemical transport processes near the mesopause: towards reconciling
models with observations
Session ID: 12812
Section/Focus Group: SPA-Aeronomy
This session will address all chemical transport phenomena occurring within
the Earth’s mesopause region and how they are affected by, and also affect,
the state of the atmosphere above and below. Specifically, it will focus on
ongoing efforts to reconcile differences between model predictions and
observations that critically depend on transport in this region. Relevant
topics include but are not limited to the following: the understanding of
observed CO and CO2 trends, the transport of thermospheric NO into the
mesosphere, errors in the representation of transport that contribute to
the ozone secondary maximum model deficit, the lifetime of meteoritic
metals near the mesopause, water vapor redistribution by polar mesospheric
clouds, airglow response to stratospheric sudden warmings and observational
constraints on eddy diffusion. Contributions reporting the combination of
model simulations and observations, both from the ground and space-based
are encouraged.
