Dear Colleagues,
We would like to make you aware of the session SA007: Energy budget of ionosphere-thermosphere during geomagnetic storms: current understanding and perspectives of forecasting at the 2015 AGU Fall Meeting:
Energy exchange is the key to understanding processes in the ionosphere-thermosphere (IT). The session purpose is to invite a broad discussion on energy input into IT during geomagnetic storms and energy partitioning within IT. The topics include new methods of evaluation of main energy inputs and sinks based on observations, empirical and numerical modeling. We encourage discussion on relative roles of energy input into IT from above and from below. What are the major factors affecting IT energetics? What is the role of pre-conditioning for IT dynamics? Of special interest are results on altitude and latitude dependence of energy deposition in IT. Presentations on modeling of energy partitioning and applications to forecasting IT are particularly welcome.
We hope to see you at the Session.
Best regards,
Conveners (Olga Verkhoglyadova, Yue Deng, Delores Knipp).
