Title - Advances in Ionospheric Forecasting – Modeling, Observations, and Validation

Session Description: The ionosphere, an integral component of many communication and navigation systems,

is driven primarily by solar and geomagnetic activity. Therefore there exists a strong coupling between

the physical processes on the Sun and Earth’s ionosphere. The state of the ionosphere is characterized

by a wide range of empicial and physics-based models as well as remote and in situ observations. This

session is aimed at exploring recent advances in models, and predictive capability of the ionosphere

dealing with space weather impacts on TEC, scintillation, structures impacting satellite navigation.

This session will also examine advances in forecasting the drivers of the ionosphere such as solar EUV,

geomagnetic storms , and atmospheric forcing that contribute to low and mid latitude ionospheric

variability. We invite researchers from all aspects of the scientific community to share their work in

capturing/predicting the state of the ionosphere.
