<b>Session Description:</b> The ionosphere, an integral component of many communication and navigation systems,

is driven primarily by solar and geomagnetic activity. Therefore there exists a strong coupling between<o:p></o:p></p>

the physical processes on the Sun and Earth’s ionosphere. The state of the ionosphere is characterized<o:p></o:p></p>
<p class="MsoNormalCxSpMiddle" style="mso-margin-top-alt:auto;mso-margin-bottom-alt:auto;mso-add-space:auto">
by a wide range of empicial and physics-based models as well as remote and in situ observations. This<o:p></o:p></p>

session is aimed at exploring recent advances in models, and predictive capability of the ionosphere<o:p></o:p></p>

dealing with space weather impacts on TEC, scintillation, structures impacting satellite navigation.<o:p></o:p></p>

This session will also examine advances in forecasting the drivers of the ionosphere such as solar EUV,<o:p></o:p></p>

geomagnetic storms , and atmospheric forcing that contribute to low and mid latitude ionospheric<o:p></o:p></p>
