Dear Colleagues,

This is to let you know that the Institute of Atmospheric Physics (IAP) in Kühlungsborn, Germany, is now seeking applicants for a 2-year postdoc position in Experimental Atmospheric Physics.

Best regards,

Koki Chau

============================================================================================
The Leibniz Institute of Atmospheric Physics in Kühlungborn (IAP) and the Rostock University invite applications for a

2-year term postdoctoral position on Experimental Atmospheric Physics

The candidate's research activities should focus on experimental investigations of the mesosphere and lower thermosphere (MLT) region. The successful candidate will be involved in the studies of dynamics and coupling processes in the MLT by means of radar observations. It s expected that such studies will be complemented by lidar observations and results from the Kühlungsborn Mechanistic general Circulation Model (KMCM) (see www.iap-kborn.de for more information about IAP science goals and instruments). This is a fixed-term position available for 2 years, but future extension may be possible.

The candidate does not necessarily need to have previous experience in all the experimental methods that will be used, since this project involves mainly the use of existing and standard data from such methods. However, the candidate should have a background education in the field of atmospheric/space physics and experience in at least one of the following areas: signal processing, analysis of ground-based data, or modeling skills. Good command of programming tools (e.g., Python, IDL, Fortran, C or MATLAB) is expected. An ability to pursue independent research and work as a member of a team is required, as well as good skills in writing science publications in international peer-reviewed journals.

The position is subject to the conditions of employment of the State of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern (LHG-MV §58 and §61). The salary is according to class EG 13 TV-L, Tarifgebiet Ost. Applications of female candidates are encouraged. In case of equal qualification, handicapped candidates are given preference.

The following documents:
	• Curriculum Vitae
	• List of publications
	• Short letter of intent (applicant's research interests and relevant experience)
	• Copies of undergraduate and Ph.D. degree certificates
	• Maximum five most important publications as three copies.
	• Two letter of recommendation from professional references.
should be submitted by November 15, 2014 to
