Dear Colleagues,

Contributions are invited to the following sessions at Fall AGU 2013
Meeting to be held in San Francisco, CA 9-13 December 2013. Abstract
submission deadline is Tuesday 6 August 2013. Abstracts can be submitted
at http://fallmeeting.agu.org/2013/

SM009: Dynamical Processes of the Cusp/Polar Cap Ionosphere

Session Description:
The Polar Cap ionosphere is strongly affected by active solar wind
conditions.
Coordinated observations, theory and modeling are needed to decode the
complexity
of the cusp and polar cap dynamics, relevant for GNSS and communication
systems.
Recently there has been an explosion of distributed array of
multi-instruments
(GPS receivers, ionosondes, sounding rockets, satellites, magnetometers,
optical
instruments, ground-based radars) in the high-latitude region. This
session focuses
on all aspects of high-latitude dynamics and electrodynamics, including
micro-
and macro-scale physics, field-aligned currents and flow dynamics,
generation of
waves, instabilities, and scintillation phenomena. Topics involving
multi-instrument
observations and those relating the plasma physics to the observational
phenomena
are particularly welcome.

Convenors:
Keisuke Hosokawa, Univ. of Electro-Communications, Japan
Thayyil Jayachandran, Univ. of New Brunswick, Canada
Kjellmar Oksavik, Univ. of Bergen, Norway
