(1) SuperMAG News: New Website, More Capabilities and Expanded Data Holdings.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
 From Jesper W Gjerloev <jesper.gjerloev at jhuapl.edu> in Nov 19 GEM Messenger.

SuperMAG (http://supermag.uib.no and http://supermag.jhuapl.edu) is a
worldwide collaboration of ground based magnetometers generously
supported by the National Science Foundation. It currently includes
data from more than 350 stations generously provided by a long list of
organizations and national agencies.

We wish to draw your attention to three areas:

1) New SuperMAG website.
The release of the new SuperMAG website marks the end of a year long
redesign process. The improvements include easier downloads, faster
plot and movie generation and easier navigation. The new site was
made possible by Brage Foerland (SuperMAG lead programmer), Robin
Barnes (head of software development), Tove Dehn (design), and Mathew
Potter (support).

2) Updated data holdings.
A large update of the data holdings.
* Mag data from recent years 2010-2013;
* Solar Wind data
<br>We are grateful to all collaborators, Dr. Weygand and the ACE/MFI,
ACE/SWEPAM teams.

3) SuperMAG reaches a milestone – 500 registered users.
SuperMAG reached this milestone in October 2013. Other notable usage
numbers:
* ~1600 unique visitors per month;
*  ~1500 data products are downloaded per month;
*  >35,000 data products has been downloaded;
* The average user spends ~12 min visiting ~14 pages.

All feedback is most welcome.

(2) Summer 2014 Research Experiments for Undergraduates (REU) at MIT Haystack
Observatory - applications due 2 February.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
 From KT Paul (ktpaul at haystack.mit.edu).

Undergraduate science, mathematics, engineering, and computer science
students are invited to apply for summer research positions at the MIT
Haystack Observatory in Westford, MA. Research projects include radio
astronomical studies, atmospheric physics investigations, and hardware
and software development for data acquisition and processing. The program
extends from June 2 to August 8, 2014 and carries a weekly stipend of $500.00.
Women, minorities and students with disabilities are encouraged to apply.
For further information and application materials, see
http://www.haystack.mit.edu/edu/reu/.

Application deadline is 11:59pm - 2 February 2014

is available at Dartmouth College. The appointment would be for up to 6 months
during academic year 2014-2015. The position includes teaching in the departments
of Physics and Astronomy, Engineering, or Earth Sciences. Extension of appointment
may be possible using appropriate sponsored research projects. To qualify,
candidates must be U.S. citizens engaged in research related to space science,
planetary science, astrophysics, remote sensing, aerospace technology, or
technology dependent on space-based platforms. To apply, send a 1-2 page
summary of teaching and research goals, curriculum vitae, and the names of
three references to: Visiting Young Scientist, c/o K A Lynch, Department of
Physics and Astronomy, Dartmouth College, 6127 Wilder Hall, Hanover, NH 03755.
For more information, e-mail kal at dartmouth.edu. Applications will be reviewed
beginning in February 2014. The position is funded by NASA NH Space Grant.

University, for Spring 2014, emphasizing acoustic and gravity wave perturbations
to the ionosphere.

The Department of Physical Sciences at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University
(ERAU) at Daytona Beach, FL invites applications for a postdoctoral research
or research scientist position starting in spring 2014. This study will focus
on the numerical modeling of acoustic and gravity wave perturbations to the E
and F-region ionosphere, associated with meteorological, seismic, and oceanographic
forcing. The successful applicant will enjoy working in a collaborative research
environment, comprising theorists, modelers, and experimentalists, within and
external to the University. This interdisciplinary project will be jointly
supervised by Profs. Michael Hickey, Jonathan Snively, and Matthew Zettergren.

The successful applicant will have a Ph.D. in physics, atmospheric sciences,
