The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the College of Charleston invites
applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in atmospheric
physics to begin fall 2013. Candidates must have a commitment to excellence in
teaching undergraduate physics or astronomy (including at the introductory
level), in addition to specific courses related to the atmospheric physics
program. The incumbent must also establish and sustain an active research
program. A PhD in physics, atmospheric physics, or a closely-related field is
required, and post-doctoral experience is preferred.

The College of Charleston is a public liberal arts college with approximately
10,000 undergraduates and 1,500 graduate students. The Physics and Astronomy
department currently has 18 faculty members and is looking to expand in the area
of atmospheric physics. The department currently offers a physics major with a
meteorology concentration and hopes to expand this into an atmospheric physics
degree.

Qualified applicants should submit
* a complete curriculum vitae,
* a statement describing their teaching experience and philosophy,
* a description of their research background and plans, and
* the names, addresses, e-mail addresses, and telephone numbers of three
