[Wrf-users] problem in real.exe when changing land cover categories

Hi,

You have to be careful changing land use as there are several arrays that have this info.
A far as I am aware (and someone please correct me if this is wrong) LU_INDEX (i.e. dominant land cover) is created from the LANDUSEF (i.e. land use fractions) array. This step is redone when you run real.exe, so as Frank says it's best to do this once you have your met_em files.

Best,
Helen

Hi Nafiseh,

When I did this kind of change, I found it had to be done after running real.exe, in the wrf initialization files. If you change it in the geo files, real changes it back.

Dear wrf users,

I am trying to look at the sensitivity of climate to land cover change. So, I tried to change my original land cover: replace the savanna with cropland in Geo_emd01...

then I ran the simulation , but when I check the wrfinput and the wrfout, I see the original land cover.

What else do I need to change?

any help would be appreciated.
