What are you using for the lateral boundary conditions
(LBC) for your WRF runs?

Are you using analyses?
Recall that analyses start out "dry", and
form precipitation during the forecast period.
If you are feeding in
dry LBCs at the edges of your domain
throughout your WRF run, then
the edges will tend to be dry.
