The Laboratory for Atmospheric Research (LAR) at Washington State University invites applications for two post-doctoral research appointments with an effective start date of September 1, 2015. Funding for these appointments has been secured from the Joint Fire Sciences Program and the EPA STAR grants program. Candidates are sought with experience in modeling of mesoscale meteorology, fire behavior, large eddy simulation, aerosol chemistry, regional air quality, and/or land surface. Candidates should have experience with the application and development of modeling applications involving at least two of these areas. The ability to work collaboratively within LAR and with outside collaborators is essential. Candidates must also have demonstrated strong written and oral communication skills. An earned Ph.D. in a relevant engineering or science field is required before the date of hire.

The Laboratory for Atmospheric Research has a strong reputation for instrument development, field observations of atmospheric chemistry and numerical modeling of regional atmospheric chemistry and air quality (http://www.lar.wsu.edu<http://www.lar.wsu.edu/> ). There are nine faculty members in LAR, and the group collaborates with WSU faculty and outside scientists across a broad range of topics.

Screening of applications will begin June 15, 2015 and will continue until the positions are filled. Applications should include a curriculum vitae, a statement of qualifications which addresses all of the above requirements, and contact information for five references.
