[Wrf-users] press_pa levels and num_metgrid_levels

Hi,

I'm a bit confused about the difference between the defined "press_pa
levels" in namelist.wps and "num_metgrid_levels" in namelist.input which
in my case are set to the defaults values.

press_pa levels  =201300,95000,...100000, total 23 levels

num_metgrid_levels = 27 coming from GFS 0.5deg

and my questions are:

1. If the normal sea surface pressure is ~101.325 Pa, how can it be
the first level at 201.300 Pa? What does this represents?

2. Is the difference between 23 pressure levels and 27
metgrid_levels due to the 4 soil layers?

3. If P_top_requested is set to 5000 Pa, then the 27 levels are
interpolated between the first level and the last one ?

A big thanks in advance!

Best,

Elena
