Hi Christopher,

It seems like you are having trouble reading /panfs/storage.local/met/fuelberg/cak10c/WRF/WRFV3/run/wrf_gocart_backg. The obvious first question is was this file correctly created in the previous step (prep_chem_sources)? It should be linked to a file like <name>-<date>-g1-gocartBG.bin, if you're following the methodology from the Tutorial included in the User's Guide. If it does exist and there are no permissions issues with the file (chmod 775 wrf_gocart_backg), then more information may be gathered by compiling with the -g -traceback options when compiling. (To do this, clean -a, configure, and then uncomment out the line in configure.wrf that looks like #-g -traceback -O0, and then recompile WRFCHEM). This will hopefully give you a line number in the code to which you might be better able to debug your problem. I have had issues with convert_emiss in the past, but I have never had this problem, so sorry if none of this helps.

Go Noles!

Glenn

What's the output of the following command:

# locate makelocalrc

I think you'll find that it exists in $PGI/linux86-64/11.10/bin/. Your exact path might differ, based on which version ("11.10") of PGI you installed, and whether your platform is 64-bit or 32-bit ("-64"), and where you chose to install the compilers ($PGI might be /opt/pgi or /usr/local/pgi or something else).

Run it to create the correct resource ("rc") files to set environment variables.

Bart

Hi all, I am trying to run convert_emiss in WRF-Chem 3.3.1 after
preparing global emissions for my run using prep_chem_sources. First,
I have only gotten convert_emiss to compile with Intel and not PGI
compilers, even with the fixes on the WRF-Chem page, has anyone else
had similar problems?

Also, after building emissions using prep_chem_sources (V 1.2.1) and
running convert_emiss, I am receiving the error:

    READ GOCART BACKGROUND DATA

I have done all the changes and known problem fixes on the WRF-Chem
website to the best of my knowledge. It seems they should fix all of
my problems, but I am getting the same errors with or without the
changes. I cleaned the compilation, made changes, and recompiled.
Does anyone have ideas as to how I can fix my problem or what I may be
doing wrong?

Thank you.

Hi Reza,

Are you seeing this message on the server you're trying to install the license on or are you seeing this on machines that will access the license from the server?

You shouldn't need to run makelocalrc directly because the install script should do this for you. Try running the following commands from a terminal, and then rerun the install script to see if this helps.

su
[root password]
yum install gcc gcc-c++ gcc-gfortran
cd [your pgi directory]
./install

PGI depends on the gcc libraries, so it's possible that this may be your problem. I hope this helps.

Jeremy Young

Hi,

Actually libimf, libsvml and libintlc are libraries distributed
together with Intel Compiler. So, you should look for them in your
Intel Compiler distribution, and set proper path for dynamic load, for
example:

$ export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=$LD_LIBRARY_PATH:/path/to/intel/stuff

Also this tells that your netCDF was compiled by Intel, that is the
default: if netCDF configure script is able to find Intel Compiler,
than it is used as a first priority. Is it intentional for you?

And regarding other errors about missing functions you should check
the Fortran name mangling rule: make sure netCDF library really
provides names with "_" in the end (the default for Fortran). Example:

$ nm <netcdf_library_name> | grep nf_open_
$ nm <netcdf_library_name> | grep nf_open

My guess is library contains functions without "_" by some reason.

HTH,
- Dima.
