[Wrf-users] help on gen_be tool ?

I'm trying to generate background errors file for WRF-VAR using gen_be tool.Did anybody run it? 

My question is: what are the input files/variables for gen_be.

gen_be_stages ???

does exist another tool for this purpose ?

any help ? any guidance will be very apreciated. thanks in advance ,
