at the University of Washington, Seattle, WA*

The Department of Atmospheric Sciences at the University of Washington 
is seeking a post-doctoral research associate with research interests in 
mesoscale atmospheric data assimilation and prediction.

The research supported by this postdoctoral award will be directed 
towards the development of improved mesoscale data assimilation and 
short-term forecasts through the use of high-resolution ensembles.It 
will also include the evaluation new ensemble-update approaches using 
real-time observations.

Experience with the WRF modeling system, the NCAR DART Ensemble Kalman 
Filter infrastructure, and programming using Fortran and Python would be 
favorable backgrounds for an applicant to this position.

Terms of appointment are for one (1) year, renewable for a second year, 
subject to approval and availability of funding. Successful applicants 
must hold a recent Ph.D. in order to assume a postdoctoral position.
