MDA Information Systems, Inc. is seeking a Manager, Agricultural Risk Mitigation Services

MDA Information Systems, Inc., one of the largest weather and environmental information services firms in the US, seeks a highly-motivated individual to join a new unit dedicated to serving the risk-management needs of clients in the agribusiness sector. The role requires both technical skills and a talent for sales.



Working in conjunction with the VP of Weather Services and the Director of Risk Management Services, the Manager, Agricultural Risk Mitigation Services will lead the firm's efforts to market an existing suite of agricultural forecasting and analytic products.  The Manager, Agricultural Risk Mitigation Services will also assist in identifying opportunities to extend the company's reach into new areas of agricultural risk management and decision support services. Depending on the skills of the individual hired, the position may include a substantive role in product development.



Essential Job Functions

 *   Facilitate revenue growth by marketing an existing suite of agricultural risk management and decision support products including CROPCAST, the firm's flagship agricultural offering.
 *   Serve clients by providing credible telephone consultations and seminar presentations, and by resolving client issues via prompt and effective customer service.
 *   Help to build the agricultural risk services unit through various methods, such as networking with clients, potential customers, teaming strategic partners, consultants, and leaders within the agricultural community, in order to improve existing products, facilitate new business and product development, and ensure client retention.
 *   The position requires approximately 15% travel, including outreach to current and prospective clients.



Required Qualifications

 *   Master's degree or higher in Agricultural/Applied Economics, Applied Statistics, Agronomy, Meteorology, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
 *   Thorough knowledge of agricultural risk management tools and practices, including the USDA crop insurance programs.
 *   Business acumen and relationships in the crop insurance industry.
 *   Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment while meeting client-driven deadlines.
 *   Ability to communicate clearly and effectively to colleagues and clients, and to be responsive to inquiries or complaints.
 *   Experience managing relationships with clients and cultivating new business opportunities.
 *   Ability to conceptualize new products and methods that meet real client needs.
 *   U.S. Citizenship and eligibility for US security clearance are required.



Preferred Qualifications (Not strictly essential, but would be viewed very favorably):

 *   Knowledge of weather risk management tools for agriculture.
 *   Experience with the process of developing and launching new products.
