MICHIGAN, MOUNT PLEASANT 48859. Central Michigan University. Assistant
Professor. Meteorology.

The Department of Geography invites applications for a tenure-track
appointment at the level of Assistant Professor effective August, 2006.
A doctorate in meteorology or atmospheric science is required at the
time of appointment. Appointment at a higher rank may be considered for
applicants with a strong record of external funding.

The applicant will be involved in the development of a Bachelor of
Science degree in Meteorology. The current program is a concentration
supported by two tenure track meteorologists. The candidate's area of
expertise should be in the field of synoptic meteorology. Preference
will be given to candidates with experience using numerical models such
as the Weather Research & Forecasting model (WRF), and Unidata software.

In addition to undergraduate teaching and advising, the responsibilities
of the position will include: supervision of undergraduate student
research and application for external funding in support of an active
research program. Accordingly, applicants must show potential for
teaching excellence and research productivity. Screening will begin
hJanuary 10, 2006, and continue until the position is filled.

Existing meteorology faculty expertise is in the areas of dynamic,
tropical, and mesoscale meteorology. The departmental lab facilities
include workstations running Unidata software, ESRI GIS software, and a
Geowall stereo projection system.
