Postdoctoral Position
Global Modeling with Adaptive Grids
Iowa State University
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The Department of Geological and Atmospheric Sciences, Iowa State
University, is seeking a numerical modeler at the Ph. D. level in
support of DOE-funded research on global atmospheric modeling using
adaptive-grid methods.  The research focuses on development and
application of advanced numerical methods for continuous, dynamic
adaptive grids in parallel computing environments, implementation and
testing of relevant physics routines, and application to climate
simulation.
The position involves collaboration with atmospheric and
computational scientists at Iowa State, Teraflux Corp. and NCAR.  The
person will be part of a climate modeling group at Iowa State
University and will have opportunity to become involved in related
program activities, such as the Project to Intercompare Regional
Climate Simulations and the North American Regional Climate Change
Assessment Program.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Atmospheric Sciences or a closely
related field and possess demonstrated experience in climate model
development and application.  Preference will be given to candidates
who in addition have experience in parallel computing and tensor
analysis.  The nominal term of appointment is one year, with the
opportunity of renewal for additional years.  Salary will be
commensurate with experience.
Send curriculum vitae and recent publications to:
Prof. William J. Gutowski, Jr.
