Postdoctoral Opportunity, Modeling Atmospheric Mercury Deposition, U.S.
Geological Survey. Applicants are sought for a two year Mendenhall
postdoctoral position to investigate atmospheric mercury transport and
deposition. The successful applicant will develop robust mercury
deposition models consistent with field measurements from fixed stations,
and a new mobile, low-level, mercury speciation laboratory equipped with
instrumentation for real-time data acquisition, and supporting ancillary
measurements. Research that adds atmospheric modeling constraints to USGS
strengths in geology, biology, and water, is especially encouraged.

Applicants should have completed doctoral studies in atmospheric dynamics,
atmospheric chemistry, or a related field. The USGS is an EO/AA employer,
but priority is given to applicants who are U.S. citizens. Applicants are
encouraged to visit http://geology.usgs.gov/postdoc/ , and contact Allan
Kolker (akolker at usgs.gov), David Krabbenhoft (dkrabbe at usgs.gov), or Sarah
Gerould (sgerould at usgs.gov). Deadline for applications is January 16,
2004. This position is in Reston, VA, in suburban Washington, DC.
