[ncl-talk] About Rotated EOF patterns PCs

Standard EOF analysis is a mathematical operation that transforms data
into *orthogonal
*(*uncorrelated*) patterns. The PCs [time series] are created using these
orthogonal properties.

When the orthogonal patterns are rotated they are no longer uncorrelated.
try using the 'eofunc_ts' function. See what you get.

I suggest that you read:

Pacific SST* <https://doi.org/10.1175/JCLI-D-11-00663.1>

Good Luck
