[ncl-talk] Is there any functons to extract the grid data in a irregular area

Hi all, 
    I am processing the WRF output, and hope to get the average precipitation of one basin which has an irregunlar boundary, so I wonder to know if there is any functions in NCL to extract the grid data in an irreular area, maybe extracted by the shapefile of the basin boundary,  then I can calculate the spatial mean value of this area.
