Dear Colleagues,

We have an opening for a postdoctoral scientist position at PNNL to work
with us on understanding and modeling convection and its large-scale
environment. We would appreciate if you can help us spread the words and
send our job announcement to those who may be interested. A more detailed
job description and information on how to apply are provided below.

We wish you a great summer.

*Postdoctoral Scientist – Convection and its Large-Scale Environment*

PNNL is recruiting a postdoctoral scientist on research to improve
understanding of convection and its large-scale environment. The successful
candidate will perform analysis of mesoscale convective systems (MCSs)
using a combination of remote sensing and in-situ data, reanalysis data,
and model simulations to characterize MCSs and their large-scale
environment in the tropics and extratropics. Working with PNNL scientists,
the candidate will also design and perform numerical experiments to
understand the variability and changes of MCSs and the implications to the
regional and global water cycle.

The position is for two years and renewable contingent upon performance. A
Ph.D. in Atmospheric Science or related subjects is required. Familiarity
with observational data such as satellite, radar, and in-situ data, a
strong understanding of convection and its meteorological context, and
experience with weather and climate models will be considered favorably
during the evaluation.

Applications should include the following in a single package:

* Cover letter describing the applicant’s research experience and interests.

* Curriculum vitae with a list of publications in refereed journals.

* Names and addresses of three references.

Applications can be submitted through
https://pnnl.jibeapply.com/jobs/308060?lang=en-us, which will be opened
through August 19, 2018. Interested candidates may contact Ruby Leung (
Ruby.Leung at pnnl.gov <ruby.leung at pnnl.gov>), Bob Houze (houze at uw.edu), and
Zhe Feng (Zhe.Feng at pnnl.gov) for more information.
