Dear postdocs,

This looks like a great opportunity to gain some mentoring experience
and help out the community.

This is probably more appropriate for postdocs, but if you are a
graduate student with a non-traditional background and some additional
real-world experience, you should consider contacting SOARS as well.

Scientist E-Mentors Needed for the SOARS Academy*

Wish you could mentor a student, but don't have the time to dedicate to
a research internship? Why not become a SOARS Academy Mentor? The SOARS
Academy 2014 is a new one-week immersion experience at NCAR that is
intended to help college students explore careers and get exposure to
research in the atmospheric sciences. Following the week-long Academy,
students will have the ongoing support of the SOARS program and of a
mentor who will remain in touch during the school year through monthly
phone calls, emails or webchats.

We are looking for scientists, engineers and programmers who can spend a
few hours with a SOARS Academy student for a job shadowing activity on
*Tuesday, June 17th,* and then follow up on a monthly basis during the
coming fall semester. Mentor support will be provided. Join us!

To learn more, please contact Val Sloan at vsloan at ucar.edu
<mailto:vsloan at ucar.edu> or 303-497-2572, or visit the SOARS Academy
<http://www.soars.ucar.edu/workshops/academy/> web page.
