Dear All
(Please forward this email to any potential candidates, thanks)
The International Pacific Research Center (IPRC), University of Hawaii
at Manoa (UHM), invites applicants for two postdoctoral research
positions in the study of tropical cyclones. One position is for the
study of variability of tropical cyclone activity over the central and
western North Pacific at interannual to interdecadal time scales based
on observations and climate model simulations. The other position is for
the study of tropical cyclone dynamics, including rapid intensification
and size change of tropical cyclones in the multi-year simulations of
the global cloud-system-resolving model (NICAM) developed in Japan.
Applicants must have a recent Ph.D in atmospheric science or a closely
related field and have a strong background in massive data analysis and
atmospheric dynamics. Both positions are initially for one year and
renewable for a second year. The annual starting stipend for a recent
Ph.D is approximately $55,000 per year and can vary somewhat according
to the applicant’s qualifications. To apply, please send a letter
describing your research interests and enclose your CV and the names of
three referees to Prof. Yuqing Wang by email yuqing at hawaii.edu
<mailto:yuqing at hawaii.edu> no later than March 1, 2014.
Cheers,
Yuqing Wang
